Biobehavioral Intervention Training Program

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biobehavioral Intervention Research

Postdoctoral fellowships are available for a training program, supported by an NIH Roadmap initiative, at Vanderbilt University.

The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development, the Vanderbilt Center for Human Genetics Research and the Vanderbilt Institute for Imaging Sciences invite candidates holding either a Ph.D. or M.D. to apply. These two- or three-year fellowships are available immediately.

The Biobehavioral Interventions Training Program is a unique multidisciplinary program comprised of behavioral, neurodevelopmental, human genetics and brain imaging scientists who foster an integrated approach to the study of the causes and best interventions for children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities that involve cognitive impairments and mental health disorders. Trainees will have an opportunity for cross-disciplinary experiences in research laboratories and clinical settings. Active research programs include: early screening and detection of specific neurogenetic syndromes and other developmental disorders, interventions, identification of behavioral and genetic markers in human populations, small animal and human imaging of brain function, molecular and pharmacological mechanisms of brain development and dysfunction.

Applications for these fellowships are especially encouraged from candidates who are invested in working as part of an interdisciplinary research team, and who aim to make translational bridges between basic or applied/clinical research and treatments for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Interested candidates should identify a prospective mentor who will provide a letter of interest in support of the application, including the identification of a co-mentor in a complimentary discipline. The applicant is responsible for sending a CV, statement of research interests, representative reprints, and three letters of recommendation to: Pat Levitt, PhD, Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development, Vanderbilt University, Peabody #40, 230 Appleton Pl, Nashville TN 37203-5721.
